Solidarity with Southern Sudan is a UISG/USG sponsored collaborative venture of more than 80 religious congregations who have united their efforts, charisms, financial and personnel resources in response to the invitation of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference to come to Southern Sudan and help to rebuild society and the Church after more than 5 decades of civil war.
2007 Report to Congregations participating in
Solidarity with Southern Sudan
To all of you, who have supported Solidarity with Southern Sudan during the past year, thank you. The project has grown more quickly than anyone could have imagined and has become much bigger and complex than expected. The scriptures, written so long ago, have meaning for us in the new year. "Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. Watch for the new things I am going to do...it is happening already. You can see it now." (Is. 43)
Solidarity with Southern Sudan is an act of solidarity between religious institutes, who are members of the Union of Superiors General (USG) and the Union of International Superiors General (UISG) and the Church in Southern Sudan, under the direction of the Sudan Catholic Bishops' Conference (SCBC)
